Batch processing
The olive oil extracted from each batch must be kept identified with its name of origin. For this reason, the olives must remain apart along the entire processing cycle.
Therefore, each batch will be registered with its yield, and the cost of crushing will be borne by the client. The objective of the oil mill is to meet the expectations of customers and ensure that they receive their own oil.
This is possible thanks to the specific feature of the olive processing system, which is suitable for easy batch separation.
In order to guarantee the quality of the oil obtained, the oil press has to be able to control the whole process by means of adjustment systems and monitoring of process parameters, such as temperature, time, flow, washing, etc. These parameters must be adjusted to the characteristics of the different batches.
The purpose of the oil press is to meet the clients’ expectations and ensure they receive their own oil.
Industrial processing
In the industrial processing, olives are selected according to their variety and, in many cases, according to their origin: olives harvested from the tree and olives harvested in the ground. For each batch of olives, customer identification data are collected. The quantity and quality of the batch are determined from a sample; then the product is stored for later processing.
Therefore, the extraction process takes place with no interruptions, and the machines are only stopped for cleaning and maintenance processes. It is clear that such a system allows for maximum optimization of the processing volume to minimize machine downtime by continuously feeding the decanter and consequently improving plant throughput.
With this system, adjusting the processing time and temperature is a very simple operation, thanks to the homogeneity of the product and the continuity of the process. Malaxing times are defined in the design and sizing phase of the malaxing unit and the hourly capacity of the decanter, while temperatures are defined in a standard way so that during the extraction process malaxation is made at the correct temperature.
